Sardonic suit-wearing icon Fran Lebowitz is bringing her iconic blend of social commentary and deadpan wit to the Aronoff Center's Procter & Gamble Hall on April 12, 2022.

In an apt description, the press release extolls the journalist, satirist and author's "acerbic views on current events and the media as well as pet peeves including tourists, baggage-claim areas, after-shave lotion, adults who roller skate, children who speak French, or anyone who is unduly tan."

Frequently called the "heir to Dorothy Parker," Lebowitz's Cincinnati stop — An Evening with Fran Lebowitz — will feature a moderated conversation, audience Q&A and book signing.

She has recently penned a new preface to her The Fran Lebowitz Reader, described by the New York Times as "Hilarious... an unlikely and perhaps alarming combination of Mary Hartman and Mary McCarthy....To a dose of Huck Finn add some Lenny Bruce, Oscar Wilde and Alexis de Tocqueville, a dash of cabdriver, an assortment of puns, minced jargon, and top it off with smarty pants."

If you don't know about Lebowitz or just want to watch something supremely enjoyable on Netflix, view the docu-series Pretend It’s a City — where you can "Wander the New York City streets and fascinating mind of wry writer, humorist and raconteur Fran Lebowitz as she sits down with Martin Scorsese."

Tickets for Lebowitz's Cincinnati stop range from $45 to $75 and go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, June 18 at cincinnatiarts.org and 513-621-ARTS.
