MainStrasse Mardi Gras

Let’s be real: We all can’t make it to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, but Covington may be the next best thing. Get those purple, gold and green beads ready and pull out the masks because Mardi Gras is coming to us.

Take a journey through MainStrasse Village bars or get your dancing shoes on to parade through the street. Meet on the island at the Goose Girl Fountain for a Big Head Parade — a Mardi Gras tradition where people actually wear large papier-mâché full-head party masks — then check out live music from Nick Denham on Sax, Red Hot Dancing Queens and Blues Brothers before a pub crawl (with drink specials) starting at 8:30 p.m. Laissez les bons temps rouler!

6 p.m.-midnight Saturday. Free admission. Main Street, Covington, facebook.com/mainstrassevillage
