Nickelodeon's classic kids game show Double Dare is coming to the Taft Theatre on Nov. 1 during a live, multi-city tour.
For those of you who don't remember Double Dare, it was prime '90s TV, originally running from 1986 to 1993. The show featured kids (or families) going head-to-head in a trivia competition, accented by gross games of skill and physical challenges — all frequently involving Nick's iconic green slime.
The show was hosted by Marc Summers (who, fun fact, suffered from crippling OCD and had a super difficult time with the gross-out goo), who will be returning to host this live tour with his TV sidekick Robin Russo.
“Hosting the Double Dare Live tour couldn’t be any more exciting, and I look forward to bringing the fun and messiness of Double Dare to audiences across the country,” said Summers in a press release. “Doing the show again with my sidekick Robin will fulfill childhood dreams of the generation that grew up with us and introduce this classic show to the next generation.”
The live rendition of Double Dare will feature two teams of audience members "competing to win prizes by answering brain-bending trivia questions, completing messy physical challenges and ultimately facing the legendary obstacle course," says the release.
The tour starts in North Carolina before heading here for its second stop.
Now, if only someone would bring back Are You Afraid of the Dark?
