Cincinnati's Bockfest is back for its 28th year, with a wild parade kicking off the beer-fueled, goat-filled weekend. But spectators can expect a new face driving Arnold's bathtub float.
After five years, Pam Kravetz, an iconic Cincinnati presence who has driven the Arnold's float in several Queen City parades, including Reds Opening Day Parade and the Pride Parade, is "passing the bubble-filled torch" to 2017 Bockfest Sausage Queen Amy Moore.
Kravetz announced the news via a Facebook post on Feb. 26.
"In the tradition of all that is crazy, wonderful, sausage-filled, bock beer-delicious and so very Cincinnati, I have some exciting Bockfest Parade and Arnold’s Bathtub news to share," Kravetz said in the post.
"I have led the parade in my trusty Arnold’s bathtub for the past 5 pom pom filled, balloon covered, goat loving, wig and headdress wearing years! And it has been AMAZING!!!!!!! Mind-Blowing, Fun Filled wonderful! My friends and Craig by my side! behind me along the parade route! This year, I am passing the bubble filled torch on the Bockfest Queen 2017 and Arnold’s Princess Amy Moore!!!! No one wears a sausage bra better than Amy!"
Pam explained to me that driving the tub has been a huge honor to her, and she felt as though it was time to share the opportunity with someone new.
The Bockfest parade steps off from Arnold's Bar & Grill today (Feb. 28) at 6 p.m. featuring the reigning Sausage Queen, Beard Baron and a goat-pulled keg of beer — plus plenty of creative and bizarre costumes and floats. Click here for the parade route.
