The Cincinnati Art Museum is celebrating the changing of the seasons with the return of the popular exhibition Art in Bloom.
Traditionally held in the fall, the 11th edition of Art in Bloom will take place this spring and will mark the exhibit's triumphant return; the last Art in Bloom took place in 2019 and was put on pause due to the pandemic.
From May 13-15, more than 90 floral bouquets and arrangements by both professional and amateur designers will be set up near works of art in the museum. The floral creations "will create a dialogue between fine art and floral beauty," says the museum in a press release, juxtaposing the color, composition and style of the arrangements with the art itself.
Doan Ly, founder and creative director of New York City floral design studio a.p. bio, is the exhibit's featured floral designer. Four of Ly's large floral installations will be displayed throughout the museum.
“Art in Bloom is a beautiful and important event for the Cincinnati Art Museum, and we are so excited to bring it back for the community in 2022,” says Art in Bloom co-chair Cheryl Rose in a release. “We have Doan Ly, who is internationally famous, creating exquisite, giant floral installations at the museum, along with more than 90 volunteer-created floral displays. It will be three days that all our visitors will remember."
In addition to the exhibit, Art in Bloom will include activities like a family-friendly Community Festival on the Art Climb. From 11 a.m.-3 p.m. March 14, the free outside event offers live entertainment from a DJ and local community performers, a flower potting station and food trucks.Access to Art in Bloom's inside exhibit is ticketed for non-members: $12 adults, $6 senior/student/child and free for ages 6 and under.
