Mullets are here to stay.
Kids and teens from both Ohio and Kentucky are finalists in the USA Mullet Championships, and their hair is nothing but showstopping. The "business in the front, party in the back" hairstyle was popular in the '80s, but it has persevered in pockets of the nation and reemerged as the pandemic temporarily closed barbershops and salons.
According to the competition's website, the USA Mullet Championships were established in 2020 and began a partnership with Major League Eating – the outfit behind the Nathan's Hot Dog competition – earlier this year. In addition to online competitions, the USA Mullet Championships also host live contests throughout the year, with the most recent being in Indianapolis in July.
A total of six Ohioans and Kentuckians are in the running for best mullet in the kids and teens divisions of the USA Mullet Championships. Mullet enthusiasts can vote for their favorites through Aug. 19. Vote for kids' mullets here and vote for teens' mullets here.
