Does restless leg syndrome render you incapable of sitting through a full-length theater production in one go? Do you have faith in your fellow theatergoers to honor the democratic process? Have you ever wished for the unwieldy power of a theater critic in a fierce rush of post-production adrenaline and opinionated frenzy?
Serials! 10: Thunderdome is the simple answer to all your rambling musings. Now in its 10th year, this ultimate onstage showdown brings 12 brand new 15-minute plays to the Know Theatre’s underground performance space for a “delightful theatrical deathmatch,” where the audience decides the fate of the show.
For five weeks of Serials!, the audience will be treated to five locally written, directed and performed plays (except Jan. 20, which kicks off the series with six plays). Each night, the audience will vote to keep three plays onstage for another week, while two unsatisfactory productions will get the ax and be “banished to a dystopian theatrical wasteland” for good. Each week two new plays will join forces with the winners from the previous show until three plays are crowned victorious in Week Five, joined by two axed plays that will be voted back for a redemptive resurrection onstage.
The schedule is as follows:
Monday, Jan. 20: Posy’s Predicament by Hannah Gregory; My Roommate is a Lesbian Vampire by Mary Beringer; Adventures in Behavioral Therapy by Anonymous; Have Monster Will Travel by Trey Tatum; Poster Child by Dan Winters and The Kingdom’s at Han, but the Game’s Afoot by Robert Macke
Monday, Feb. 3: The Election of Miss Rebecca’s Third Grade Class by Bradon Leatherland and Bloody Mary by Kelly Collette, plus three winners from Jan. 30
