The doodle is, perhaps, the most universal art form. Even the least creative of us has spent preoccupied time scribbling nonsense in the margins of notebooks, or at least been forced to play Pictionary.
Wave Pool contemporary art fulfillment center will soon showcase an exhibition celebrating modern artists’ uses of ink on paper to embrace wit and absurdity as a means to cope with the whirlwind of chaos that is American life in 2019 via Start Over Tomorrow While There’s Still Time.
Less concerned with calligraphy than emotional resonance, this curation surveys the current state of eccentric line drawings and quirky texts from artists like San Francisco’s Kyle Knobel and current DAAP student Macartney Greer.
Interactive community events including record listening parties and portrait-drawing sessions will follow throughout the exhibit’s run.
