A world-famous street artist who made his mark in Cincinnati during last year’s BLINK Festival will be returning at the end of the month to paint a love letter to the city through a series of murals.
L’Amour Supreme has been commissioned to create murals all over the world, including in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Paris and Tokyo. Last year, he visited Cincinnati to paint the mural Ma Jolie in Over-the-Rhine for BLINK and fell in love with the Queen City, according to a press release. He’s now partnering with Maker’s Mark bourbon, as well as some of the city’s most iconic businesses, to do a week-long public residency in Cincinnati.
The artist’s residency begins Tuesday, May 30. L’Amour Supreme will be painting three murals here, as well as taking part in a week-long show full of outdoor art, appearances and entertainment. One of the murals will be a redo of one he painted for Arnold’s Bar and Grill last year that was accidentally removed. The other two locations will be disclosed soon, says the release.
The public is invited to visit L’Amour Supreme at his painting sites throughout the week. He’ll be handing out Maker’s Mark promotional items and limited-edition signed and numbered art prints. He’ll be out painting Tuesday through Friday that week.
In addition to being a muralist, L’Amour Supreme is known for creating album art. On Wednesday, May 31, he’ll be at Shake It Records in Northside starting at 6 p.m. to sign albums for which he did the artwork. Shake It will also have plenty of his albums in stock.
And on Thursday, June 1 at 6 p.m., L’Amour Supreme will be at the Earth To Kentucky toy store in Covington to release a special Cincinnati chili version of his Kong Sofubi toys, released in collaboration with Blackbook Toy in Tokyo and streetwear brand Mishka. The toys were handmade and painted by BlackBook Toy and feature Skyline’s iconic yellow, red and blue color scheme. Only eight were made, so they are expected to sell out quickly.
L’Amour Supreme’s farewell party will be Saturday, June 3 at Arnold’s Bar and Grill downtown. He’ll unveil the new mural there, release a new signed and numbered letterpress print of the mural and tap his new beer – a juicy session IPA brewed by 16 Lots Brewery in Mason. Arnold’s will also have Maker’s Mark specials and live music from the Cincinnati Dancing Pigs at 8 p.m.
