Instead of landing on a rooftop with his reindeer-drawn sleigh, Santa will literally be rappelling from a Cincinnati skyscraper at Downtown Dazzle, a series of weekend celebrations on Fountain Square.
After a year off due to COVID in 2020, this fantastically odd Cincinnati Christmas celebration made its debut this year on Thanksgiving weekend, per a release from organizers 3CDC.
Hundreds of Cincinnatians watched in awe at Fountain Square as Santa made his “acrobatic descent." But don’t think you missed out just yet: the big man is stoping by Cincy three more times before Christmas Eve, including this Saturday, Dec. 4.
Music and other holiday activities at Fountain Square lead up to the big Santa show at 7 p.m., which is followed by a festive fireworks display.
Starting at 6:30 p.m., DJ Diamond will kick off the party and you can enjoy ice skating, hot chocolate and boozy drinks for the adults while you wait for the main event.
Bumper cars and ice skating are available at the Fountain Square ice rink all winter long.
Santa will make his appearance rain or shine, unless the weather is extreme.
The show runs 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Dec. 4, 11 and 18. Admission is free. Find more information at myfountainsquare.com.
Fountain Square is located at 520 Vine St., Downtown. myfountainsquare.com.
