Fourth of July is usually all about the fireworks, but Coney Island has another illuminating tradition lighting up the night.

Coney Island’s annual Balloon Glow returns Monday, July 3 and will showcase 10 vibrant, illuminated hot air balloons.

“Coney Island is our community’s treasured, family-friendly gathering place,” Coney Island’s spokesperson Tricia Mullin said in a press release. “Our Balloon Glow festival fits right in with that, offering area families a chance to take a break from it all and enjoy experiences together that will become fond memories for a lifetime.”

The balloons will light up starting around 8 p.m. and will be safely tethered in Moonlite Mall, a grassy area located on the banks of the Ohio River.

In addition to the balloons, the event will feature hits from the ’90s performed by 1990s Something in Moonlite Pavilion from 6-10 p.m.; interactive booths and games; plenty of food; inflatables; and a dazzling display from Rozzi’s Fireworks over Lake Como to wrap up the night.

“This is what Coney Island is all about,” Mullin said. “We’re here to help Mom or Dad show the little loves of their lives what it means to be a kid in the height of summertime.”

Sunlite Water Adventure is also open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 3, so you can enjoy a day of splashing around before seeing the balloon display.
