After two years of renovation plans and reconstruction, Newport on the Levee
hosted a grand reopening Memorial Day weekend. New businesses were added to the main gallery building, which itself got a makeover with the addition of new windows and a gray-and-white modern paint job. Green space was added, with plenty of seating. New bars and restaurants moved in, and the Levee even added its own outdoor food park called Bridgeview Box Park. A cluster of food, drink and shopping vendors are now located in repurposed shipping containers where Mitchell’s Fish Market used to be. The breezy space overlooks the Ohio River and city and features turf lounge areas, string lights and outdoor games like corn hole and giant Jenga. Instead of just being a stop on your way to see a movie at the AMC Theater, now the Levee has set itself up to be somewhere to hang out for singles looking to mingle, friends grabbing cocktails and families looking for a fun day out. newportonthelevee.com.
