Best Plan to Celebrate Local Music

Bootsy Collins (center) is one of the local musicians to be honored with a star on the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame.

Cincinnati has a storied history of amazing musicians, but the city’s accomplished, vital Black artists don’t always get their due. That’s about to change when the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame is installed in 2022, thanks largely to efforts from Hamilton County Commissioner Alicia Reece. Prolific performers — initially those from Hamilton County, but later from across the region — will have their stories told through interactive outdoor installations near the Andrew J Brady Music Center, with plenty of room to grow. The inaugural inductees for the Black Music Walk of Fame are legends Bootsy Collins, the Isley Brothers, Otis Williams and the late Dr. Charles Fold, and their stories can be found at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport until the Walk of Fame debuts this summer.
