Once again, local music fans are able to participate in the nomination process for this year’s Cincinnati Entertainment Awards.
This year marks 22 years since CityBeat first hosted the CEAs. The 2019 Cincinnati Entertainment Awards ceremony will be held in November at Memorial Hall in Over-the-Rhine.
Here's how to participate. Visit the ballot and put in your email address. For each genre category (which range from Blues, Punk and Rock to Electronic/DJ, Hip Hop and Country), please enter the name of the performer you feel is most deserved of a CEA for their work in 2019. Because the 2018 CEA nomination process stopped in October 2018, local artists’ accomplishments from October 2018 through now should be considered for the 2019 program (i.e. work done in the past 12 months).
Likewise, recordings released publicly between October 2018 and now are eligible for Album of the Year nominations. The New Artist of the Year category is for artists who have emerged in that same time span (they don’t have to have formed within that date range, just broken through on a larger level for the first time).
Nominations are reserved for bands, singer/songwriters and other music creators from Greater Cincinnati who primarily write the music they perform.
You may only fill out one ballot per email address; if you nominate with the same email more than once, all of your ballots will be discarded.
HOW IT WORKS:
A "long list" of the top vote-getters in each category will be compiled from this first round of voting and presented to the members of the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards nominating committee. The committee decides the final CEA ballot (as well as the winner of the Artist, New Artist and Album of the Year categories), so your nominations are a critical step in the process.
The last day for public nominations is Sept. 18 at noon. Public voting for the final nominees will be open in early October and runs through late October.
