It should come as no surprise by now that Fourth of July celebrations — in addition to every other aspect of 2020 — are going to be a little different this year.

But downtown's The View at Shires' Garden is salvaging some traditional elements of America's birthday and hosting a socially distanced grill-out on their rooftop terrace. It appears there are no fireworks displays planned downtown this year, but it's a safe bet you'll catch some neighborhood pyrotechnics from the patio's panoramic views.

The menu will feature plenty of beloved backyard grill-out classics like burgers, brats, grilled chicken, portobello burgers and steak cuts, along with sides like smoked potato or pasta salad, grilled corn and grilled veggies.

The terrace grill-out will take place on Saturday, July 4 from 4-11 p.m. and reservations can be made online — they are encouraged, but not mandatory.

The View at Shires' Garden asks that guests wear their masks while in common spaces and while they are not eating or drinking. They are offering disposable utensils, contactless ordering and payment upon request, as well as utilizing single-use menus and offering masks if guests are in need of one. They are also sanitizing common spaces every half hour and offering hand sanitizer to guests. For more about the restaurant's COVID-19 precautions, visit their website
