Jumper Threads — a multiple CityBeat Best of Cincinnati staff pick winner (in 2016 for their "underfrump"-eliminating undershirts and 2017 for their socks) — is releasing a new line of underwear: super soft ProModal briefs made with anti-microbial peppermint leaf. And they're actually more along the lines of briefs and bikinis than panties...

The underwear for both men and women is made with all-natural peppermint fiber. According to the Jumper website, "Everybody knows the peppermint leaf is cool and fresh, but this abundant and organic fiber adds strength and natural anti-odor properties to textiles as well. We've spent the past 18 months designing, sourcing and custom milling super soft, anti-microbial and Action Ready undies... for where you need to stay cool and fresh."

Jumper is a locally based company founded by former Army Ranger and paratrooper Daniel Redlinger and outdoor apparel designer Andrew Mallett, which specializes in functional and fashionable apparel; clothing that works for you and looks good.

The venture started with their signature undershirt, which never comes untucked and eliminates “underfrump.” It was a personal mission for Redlinger, who couldn't find a shirt that stayed tucked in and wasn't made with cheap cotton. He started Jumper in 2015 — the name is an homage to his army days — and also recently went through OTR start-up accelerator The Brandery to help make his dream products come to fruition.

The niche outdoor apparel company has expanded into hoodies, sweatpants (the most crowdfunded athletic jogger production ever) and gear like the Jumper Labs action jacket. Where they also kill it? Accessories. Particularly their performance socks, described as a “work, play, do everything sock.”

And now they're getting into the latest trend: super soft underwear. Companies like MeUndies and Tommy John market aggressively to millennials and others on media platforms trying to capture the loungewear audience with the promise of comfortable underwear. For the past 18 months, Jumper has been working on its new design that incorporates their Peppermint Tech, offering anti-microbial protection, in a cozy modal fabric. Pre-orders launch on Kickstarter at noon on Tuesday, July 24.
