The Off the Hook Dinner at Newport Aquarium Highlights the Importance of Sustainable Seafood with Local and National Restaurants

The dinner-by-the-bite will feature 30 local and national restaurants with wine and beer pairings

Off the Hook is a dining event at the Newport Aquarium featuring more than 30 local and national restaurants serving dinner-by-the-bite (with wine and beer pairings) to highlight the importance of conservation and sustainability as it applies to seafood.

Participating eateries include Bouquet Restaurant & Wine Bar, Coppin’s, Boca, Anchor-OTR, Sleepy Bee Cafe, Boomtown Biscuits & Whiskey and more.

This “celebration of animals, vegetables and minerals from the pond to the sea” is produced in collaboration with the Ohio River Valley Local Group of Chefs Collaborative; Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch, which helps consumers choose seafood that’s fished and farmed in ways that support a healthy ocean; Chefs Collaborative Seafood Solutions, which hosts workshops about sustainable seafood; and the James Beard Foundation’s Smart Catch Program, to train chefs to serve seafood that has been farmed or fished in environmentally-responsible ways.

Off the Hook, produced by the Edible Ohio Valley Foundation, will also be a straw-free, zero waste and single-use-plastic-free event.

6-9 p.m. Feb. 10. $125; $200 VIP. Newport Aquarium, 1 Levee Way, Newport,
