In March, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced a new contest designed to get teens interested in voting. Open to students in grades 6-12, the challenge was to create a new "I Voted" sticker — those little prizes you get at the polls after voting so you can proudly show them off on Instagram and Facebook.
Yesterday, LaRose announced the winning design to replace the old "I Ohio Voting" sticker. Out of 2,000 entries from across the state, Emily Legg, a 12th grader from Teays Valley High School in Pickaway County, won with her "Ohio Voted" design.
"This isn't just about a sticker," LaRose said in a statement. "This is about something much bigger than that. This is about getting young Ohioans excited about voting -- this impactful, powerful act."
