Calling All Beardos!

The "Beardo Peep Show" this Friday at Molly Malone's in Covington serves as the latest sneak preview show for the upcoming Whispering Beard Folk Festival, a massive event featuring oodles of local/regional Folk/Americana/Bluegrass (and beyond) acts, as well as headliners Peter Rowan and The Hackensaw Boys. Friday's 9 p.m. preview has Beardos Rattlesnakin' Daddies, Wonky Tonk, The Brothers & the Sisters and Mt. Pleasant String Band. —-Admission is $4.

Those interested in attending the event should block out the weekend of Aug. 28-30, as the Whispering Beard Folk Festival takes over Thornhill Farm in Morning View, Ky. (about 20 miles south of Cincinnati along the Licking River). The outdoor event offers camping for the more outdoors-y music lovers.

The lineup is the real draw, as WBFF showcases some of the best Roots/Folk music the Cincinnati area has to offer. Performers will include The Hiders, Rubber Knife Gang, Lauren Houston, Ricky Nye, Rocky Cash, Lagniappe, Katie Laur, the Rumpke Mountain Boys, Moonshine Drive, the Comet Bluegrass Allstars, Perfect Norm, Buffalo Killers, The Tillers, Jake Speed and the Freddies, Billy Catfish, Frontier Folk Nebraska, Magnolia Mountain, Daniel Ryan and many others. The Hackensaw Boys play Friday, and Peter Rowan headlines Saturday's festivities.
