For this weekend’s second edition, the Heirlooms are expanding the spotlight to some acts from outside of the region.
Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Woodward Theater (1404 Main St., Over-the-Rhine, woodwardtheater.com), Young Heirlooms’ Americana Spotlight will include performances by the host band, as well as Illinois-based groups Miles Nielsen & The Rusted Hearts and Rebecca Rego & The Trainmen (check out music from each act below). Northern Kentucky’s Robert Lowell Ford — co-leader of the Country/Americana group Warrick & Lowell — kicks off the show at 7 p.m.
This weekend’s Americana Spotlight also introduced another component to the series — visual arts. Saturday’s event will have an art installation featuring the work of Heather Braunlin-Jones, who puts a modern spin on the distinctly Americana art of quilt-making. Jones’ work has been exhibited all over the world; visit heatherjonesstudio.com to check it out.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Saturday and tickets are $8 in advance through cincyticket.com or $10 at the door.
