Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley and Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther worked out a pretty sweet wager ahead of the Aug. 11 soccer matchup between the two cities; FC Cincinnati and the Columbus Crew. Whichever city lost, the major of that city would donate ice cream to the winner's local foodbank; Graeter's Ice Cream from Cincinnati and Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams from Columbus.
The match resulted in a tie, which Graeter's took as a win for both cities. The craft ice creamery will be donating its tasty treats to both foodbanks.
“The game was a tie last evening… nobody lost and therefore, EVERYONE wins! We are thrilled to send ice cream to the MidOhio Foodbank and the Freestore Foodbank… sending Graeter’s Craft Ice Cream for families in need,” said Rich Graeter, President of Graeter’s Ice Cream in a press release.
“We’ve been a part of central Ohio families’ lives since 1989 – and of Cincinnati families’ lives since 1870. In as much, we consider Graeter’s an integral part of both Cincinnati and Columbus and we’re excited to celebrate these great teams.”
The sweet treats will be donated at a specified date later this month.
