Riverbend's PNC Pavilion was all set to transform into a ’90sPalooza fest on July 21 when the Barenaked Ladies' Last Summer On Earth was slated to come to town.
The Canadian band was carting along special guests the Gin Blossoms and Toad the Wet Sprocket for the angsty sojourn. But, unfortunately, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the show has been rescheduled for July 20, 2021.
"We were really hoping we'd be able to pull it off this summer, but for the safety of our fans, all the venue staff, bands and crew, we need to listen to best advice and postpone until next summer," says singer-guitarist Ed Robertson in a statement. "We'll be back with the same lineup in almost all the same venues in 2021. We hope to see each and every one of you then. Be safe. Continue to Rock and don't forget to Roll."
BNL has been a leader of the ’90s nostalgia circuit. Last year they went out on the road for a hugely successful tour with Hootie and the Blowfish and their Last Summer on Earth tours have featured guests like Better Than Ezra, Cracker, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Blues Traveler, Guster and Ben Folds Five. Other Last Summer on Earth tourmates over the past several years (this is BNL's sixth edition of the tour) have included OMD, Howard Jones, Colin Hay and Violent Femmes.
