Covington is now home to an Alice in Wonderland-themed community park. The green space, located between Scott and Pike streets, was formerly occupied by popular music venue Mad Hatter. Gateway Community and Technical College Foundation owns the property and worked with Renaissance Covington and community partners to revive the space.
According to the Renaissance Covington website, the pop-up park will feature field game designs (like a baseball diamond) and encourages visitors to "grab a ball and friends and play!" They will also have urban gardens that the community is welcome to contribute to, bike racks, picnic tables donated by the NKY Picnic Table Project and park visitors are welcome to rent out books or lawn games from Covington's Kenton County Library branch, located nearby.
To celebrate the opening of their new green space, they are having a launch party from 5-9 p.m. Aug. 2. The party will feature live music, lawn games, beer from Braxton Brewing Co. and bites from Chloe's Eatery.
