After the closure of Alto Pizza Kitchen + Bar this past spring, a new eatery is taking over the space.

Slated to open Aug. 16, Parlor on Seventh offers Southern comfort food in a laid-back environment. The restaurant is located at 43 W. Seventh St. in Covington, nestled alongside Braxton Brewing Co.

The location is rich with history and the restaurant draws much of its inspiration from the neighborhood's significant past.

"Pike Street was once the heart of all things commercial and transportation. Parlor on 7th is named after the Lexington Turnpike that connected the bustling markets in Cincinnati and Covington to the farmers down south in the Bluegrass state," a press release explains.

"This historic route that was traveled was once paved by the buffalo, which guests will notice drives the restaurant’s brand concept. Parlor on 7th serves as a resting point for the fine folks passing by. The grit, traveling and labor put into the creation of the turnpike is reflected throughout the restaurant."

The menu offers a variety of Southern-inspired items, ranging from appetizers and salads to flatbreads and comfort entrées.

“Parlor on 7th is an exciting endeavor we’re looking forward to sharing with Covington,” says general manager Josh Rhodes in the same release. “We want the dining experience at the restaurant to be unlike any other — from the food to the atmosphere. We’ve put a lot of heart — and a lot of thought — into the concept, so guests local to Covington feel like they’re celebrating the community, and guests from outside the city feel like they’re home.”
