This weekend marks the official unofficial start of summer (aka Memorial Day weekend), which in Cincinnati means Taste of Cincinnati, the massive outdoor food festival along Fifth Street, between Main Street and the I-71 ramp.

As always, the popular (and free) event — running May 25-May 27 — also features a massive buffet of live music, showcasing a wide range of styles, including Rock, Americana, R&B, Blues, Bluegrass, Country, Salsa, Jazz and more. There are nearly four dozen bands and solo artists performing on five stages throughout the weekend.

The music programming this year is a collaboration with the Cincinnati Music Accelerator, headed up by Kick Lee, a staple of the local music scene. Lee made sure the diversity of the music reflected that of the food vendors participating.

“This partnership helps enable the Cincinnati Music Accelerator to create and establish jobs for musicians within our region — and it’s another great step toward making our future city a music city,” Lee says in a press release. “I saw that 60 percent of the restaurants, food trucks and Findlay Market vendors at Taste of Cincinnati are owned by minorities, women and immigrants. Now, the Cincinnati Music Accelerator is excited to have the opportunity and responsibility of helping to expand the already diverse entertainment lineup.”
