Cincinnati-based bakery O Pie O has been a local favorite for flaky and decadent baked goods since its inception as a Findlay Market pop-up. The bakery opened a brick and mortar in East Walnut Hills in 2015 and is slated to open their second location in Over-the-Rhine on Aug. 28.

The new spot will focus on grab-and-go baked goods and carry-out bites, a perfect fit for our current dining climate. Guests can expect many O Pie O favorites, plus a larger menu of popovers, galettes and biscuits. The eatery's cooler will have salads and drinks to go, plus a selection of frozen take-and-bake pot pies and pre-made dough in the freezer. The bakery will also offer gluten-free baked treats.

In addition to goods baked or prepared in house, they will also offer foods and items from local businesses, including coffees, spices, sauces and ice creams.

“2020 calls for a new form of hospitality, centered around convenience and trust,” said O Pie O’s founder and CBO Lou Ginocchio in a press release.

“At O Pie O, comfort is our guide. From our menu rooted in childhood classics and grown-up riffs, to our new OTR store’s design as a hot bakery with grab-and-go and take-and-bake goods, we show how much care goes into each item our guests enjoy. After all, what’s more comforting right now than pie?”

The new shop will be located at 32 E. 13th St. in Over-the-Rhine's Columbia Building. The space will feature seating for 20 people indoors as well as 20 in the outdoor courtyard.

According to the press release, the historic space has a wrap-around display counter to present their pastries, which features a tiling reminiscent of a lattice crust. The white brick wall that runs through the center of the bakery contrasts with the dark countertops and shelves.

There will be a quick pick-up window where guests can grab their online carry-out orders or pre-orders. Additionally, O Pie O's goods will be available via delivery through DoorDash.

“Opening an independent restaurant during a pandemic is a unique challenge and an opportunity,” said Ginocchio. “I am so proud of our team and grateful to our Walnut Hills customers whose support has given us confidence to open in Over-the-Rhine as a carry-out and grab-and-go bakery. It is rather extraordinary to be able to open our doors with a menu and service model in which we can not only survive a pandemic, but also potentially thrive.”

The bakery will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and they will have a fire sale from 7-11 a.m. every Monday.
