The Cincinnati Rollergirls are on the move.

The roller derby team has announced that for its forthcoming 2020 season, it will host matches at the Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University.

Founded in 2005, the team has played on Xavier's campus since 2017, when it moved to the 3,000-seat Schmidt Memorial Fieldhouse after its former home, Cincinnati Gardens, was sold (and later demolished). Cintas Center has 10,224 seats.

“We’re thrilled to bring the action-packed sport of women’s flat track roller derby to the Cintas Center,” Lauren Bishop, the Cincinnati Rollergirls' principal owner and a founding player, says in a press release. “Cintas will provide our skaters, fans and sponsors with the best experience yet for roller derby in Cincinnati.”

The press release says the team will be playing on the "polished concrete" underneath the playing surface used by the Xavier basketball and volleyball teams. "Polished concrete is an ideal surface for the hard-hitting, fast-moving sport of flat track roller derby," the release states.

The Cincinnati Rollergirls' first game at the Cintas Center is a double-header on March 21 vs. Appalachian Roller Derby out of Boone, North Carolina. Tickets go on sale today (Jan. 13) at 10 a.m. Visit cincinnatirollergirls.com for ticket info and details on future matches.
