Siri Imani, poet, teacher, musician and member of Cincinnati Hip Hop favorites and activists Triiibe — the reigning Cincinnati Entertainment Awards “Artist of the Year” — has released the first song off her debut album, which is slated to drop later this year.
Titled "Bossa," Imani calls the track a "light-spirited summer anthem about embracing the newness of life, love and inner peace."
The tune, which plays off of Brazilian Bossa Nova beats, was produced by Triiibe bandmate PXVCE, engineered by DJ Drowsy and mastered by Devin Burgess.
The original tune is streaming on all platforms Imani says, and you can download it on Apple Music.
Imani also released a remix with locals GIRLNXTDOOR and Jaybee Lamahj.
Imani says, "GIRLNXTDOOR adds an eclectic, new sound, just emerging on the scene as the 4th member of local hip hop group Young N’ Official also known as 'YNO.' Jaybee Lamahj does what he does best, providing the 'Phonk' in the form of multiple blues-inspired melodies highlighted throughout the track."
And after "Bossa" was shared with friends and family all over the world, Imani says they've been sending in videos of themselves singing and dancing along with the tune, which she then edited into a music video.
"Seriously brightened up my week, and reminded me we can always stay connected even at times like this," Imani said in an email.
