College Hill shop Silk Road Textiles — which carries ethically traded fabrics and yarn — has put together DIY face mask kits for people who want to help health care workers who may be exposed to COVID-19.

Each kit costs $15 and includes instructions and supplies to make 15 masks. Kits are available by calling 513-541-3700 or emailing [email protected]

“Silk Road Textiles is thrilled to have supplies available for handmade mask kits for the maker community to purchase," says Terry Owen, proprietor of Silk Road Textiles, in a release. "Due to an overwhelming demand, elastic has been particularly hard to come by, and we have now secured an ample supply.  We have been filling orders for kits all week and distributing them thru our Dash Up & Go service from the rear door of the shop. Making masks is an amazing opportunity for our sewing tribe to support caregivers that are generously giving of their skills and talent while taking health risks. We are so thankful to be of service to the community.”

Order before noon on Thursday to pick up kits from 3-6 p.m. Thursday at the shop, located at 6106 Hamilton Ave. If you place your order after noon, it will be available the following week.

This week, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on March 27, you can also pick up mask kits from College Hill Coffee Company (6128 Hamilton Ave.). They'll be available for sale in the coffeeshop.

Silk Road says completed masks can be donated to Ohio Living Llanfair, a senior living facility in College Hill, by calling 513-591-4578 or emailing Carol Saylor at [email protected]

The Beechwood Home long-term-care nursing facility is also accepting donations of face masks. Masks can be donated by placing them in a box or bag at the center's back entrance; label them Attn: Patti Clark.

Many other health care facilities may also be accepting donations. Contact any of them to see.
