Cincinnati home-based Fat Ben's Bakery, a delectable pastry business owned by Ben Arington, is offering a special treat to help folks get through these trying times.
Arington's Quarantine Boxes feature a variety of baked-goods or pastries that change with each new release, but range from seven to 10 pastries and cost $23-$27. Some of favorites that have been included in past boxes are the bakery's popular Pastry Pockets, Dunk-a-Boos (the bakery's take on Dunkaroos), Lucky Charms or Cap'n Crunch cereal cookies and homemade Zebra Cakes.
Arington began selling his pastry boxes about a week ago, and they've gathered quite the the following since.
"I sold out of my '90s Quarantine Box in like 14 seconds (60 boxes with 96 people on the waitlist). The box previously (the pastry quarantine box) sold out in about 2 minutes," Arington said in an email.
In order to purchase a box of your own, Arington says to keep an eye on his Instagram story, where he announces the Quarantine Box countdown. Once the countdown is done, the box is officially available and you can place your order by emailing [email protected].
The upcoming box reveal is at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 5.
Arington notes that you should prepare to put your orders in quickly, as many people have "auto send" emails that are ready to go.
In terms of receiving your box, all orders are available via pick-up only. Arington asks customers to text once they've arrived and he will place the box on his front porch where it can be picked up.
"I typically scream, 'THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT. YOU'RE AMAZING. BE SAFE.' This way there is absolutely no physical exchange," he says in his email.
All orders are paid through Venmo and must be paid for the day prior to pick up or they will be offered to the next person in line.
