The Friends of the Public Library

The Friends of the Public Library, which is an independent organization supporting the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, is currently in the midst of its 47th annual June book sale (10 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday; it's 50 percent off day Friday) and Saturday, June 8 is Bag Day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Attendees can purchase a $10 standardized bag from the Friends and can fill it to — but not exceed — the brim with books. Attendees cannot use their own bags for shopping, but can use their own totes to reinforce the purchased bags.

The warehouse holds over 100,000 titles. All of the books are either library discards or private donations, so don’t be surprised if you find notes or writing in your purchase. Most books are $3 or $4 and are priced by expert volunteers. The books are organized by categories like self-help, fiction, horror, sci-fi and local. More books will be on tables outside, if the weather permits. Restocking will take place daily and volunteers are happy to give tours and answer questions.

There is a parking lot behind the warehouse and street parking nearby. Specific spots are available at Family Dollar and Long’s Furniture. There’s also a lot at 8420 Vine St., which is two blocks from the warehouse. Visit their website for additional information.

10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 8. Free admission. The Friends’ Used Book Store at the Warehouse, 8456 Vine St., Hartwell, cincylibraryfriends.org.
