The team behind creative OTR apothecary cocktail destination Sundry and Vice is opening up a second space: Comfort Station in Walnut Hills.
Officially opening June 28*, Comfort Station is another fun concept bar located in a former "Public Comfort Station," a century-old building once used as a rest area and bathing house along the Walnut Hills transit and retail corridor. Owner Stuart King and general manager Jack Keane hope it will be an anchor in the ever-developing neighborhood.
“We’re incredibly happy to be opening in Walnut Hills,” King says in a release. “Our team can’t wait to breathe new life into a building that at one time was vital to daily life in the area. Comfort Station will be a return of the building’s roots and purpose, a spot along people’s journey to relax and rejuvenate.”
According to that same press release, the novel experience starts when you first arrive: Guests will enter Comfort Station from the original women's room. The main bar room will serve a dual purpose as both a cocktail destination and a co-working space — they'll have crafted boozy drinks and a daytime coffee program. A back patio will create an airy indoor/outdoor feel. For more of the mischievous "vice" the duo has been attached to at their OTR bar, the men's room entrance leads to a subterranean cocktail lounge.
“The dual nature of the bar reflects the dichotomy of light and dark,” says Keane. “This idea of two sides and duality is reinforced in the design and our forward-thinking cocktail program devised for each space. With two bars, we’re able to offer a broader beverage program than Sundry and Vice, including a larger selection of wines and large-format, shareable cocktails.”
