Fans will be allowed in the stands as the UC Bearcats take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane for the American Athletic Conference Football Championship on Dec. 19.

A limited number of tickets will be available to students and UCATS donors, with capacity at 1,500 fans — that includes player guests for both UC and Tulsa, as well as coaching staff, bands and spirit squads.

UC Athletics had asked the state for an attendance variance, but was denied.

"We learned over the weekend our request to the State of Ohio for an attendance variance for the American Athletic Conference Championship in Nippert Stadium was denied," UC's Director of Athletics John Cunningham said. "We appreciate the work of University leadership and the City of Cincinnati as we went through the request process.

"We will conduct the championship game this weekend in a similar manner to our home games all season long with guests from both teams, a limited number of students and donors and our band, cheer and dance groups. We promise to put on the best show we can for the fans allowed in the stadium according to the state limits."

The game takes place 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 at Nippert Stadium.

Students can purchase first-come, first-served $10 tickets for the game via their student ticket account or by calling 1-877-CATS-TIX. UCATS donors will get an email about their ticket options.

The AAC Championship will also air on ABC and 700 WLW AM.
