Set your VCRs or Tivos (or whatever it is you crazy kids are using these days to record TV shows) for 11:35 p.m. tonight, as the Cincinnati-birthed Heartless Bastards make their network television debut on Late Show with David Letterman. —- The band probably won't be on until about 12:25 p.m. or so, but I so want to hear announcer Alan Kalter say, "and Heartless Bastards!" at the top of the show. I'm sure Dave will have a chuckle over their name early on as well.
The band is not sharing the show with some bigtime celebrity. (I was imagining the group being on with Adrien Brody or someone, who would instantly fall in love and put Erika in the tabloids! Joaquin Phoenix isn't on until tomorrow night.) Instead, the guests tonight are the members of the crew of Flight 1549, the plane that had to make a forced landing in the Hudson River recently. Dave is a sucker for these kinds of real-people, heartwarming stories ($10 says, at some point, he uses the words, "Just tremendous"), but he better not go long and cut the Bastards segment!
