The team behind bar and dance club Mixwell's is opening a new queer bar in Northside, Good Judy's. The bar hosts its grand opening with a weekend-long celebration Jan. 17-19.

Good Judy's will take over Mixwell's original space at 4169 Hamilton Ave. The owners have renovated the bar to offer a fresh new look and focus.

The bar features a Midcentury modern color palette, with mint-colored walls and peach stamped tin ceilings. The shotgun-style space offers a bar in the bright front room and a theater lounge in the back with a dance floor and stage that offers a darker and more dramatic vibe.

Good Judy's mission is to provide a safe place for all things LGBTQIA. "We wanted to fashion a queer space specifically celebrating our femme friends and family. All are welcome but it was important for us to honor our LGBTQIA+ community," says bar co-owner Scott Dittgen.

The opening celebration kicks off on Friday, Jan. 17. On Saturday, Jan. 18, the cast of ODD Presents will performs an alternative drag show. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will begin a monthly event series on Sunday, Jan. 18.
