Cincinnati-based design and development firm Canned Spinach has created a tool that will help consumers stay up-to-date on small business specials and experiences in order to better support their local establishments during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Stay In Cincy" links both consumers and businesses together through a database of information submitted by owners, which is sent via text message to users. Business owners can submit their offer, and consumers can sign up to be notified daily of local specials or experiences.

"The COVID-19 outbreak is devastating local restaurants and bars who can no longer host patrons. Many of them have thousands of dollars of inventory sitting in their fridges, cellars, and bars, which is at risk of going to waste," the Stay in Cincy website reads. "By ordering takeout and delivery, you can help support your favorite local businesses and their hard working teams during this challenging time."

Some examples that Canned Spinach partner Andrew Savitz mentioned in an email are Condado Taco's DIY margarita kits, Molly Wellmann's virtual cocktail classes and Brown Bear Bakery's $3 cookie donation to health care workers.

Signing up for alerts is easy — just visit their website and enter your phone number, first and last name and you will begin receiving one update a day when the tool is implemented on Wednesday, April 8.

For businesses: If you'd like for your special offer to be included, fill out the submission form on the website with your name, business name, email address, phone number and offer.
