The Planned Parenthood chapter that serves Cincinnati and the surrounding region today announced it has a new president and CEO.
Kersha Deibel will lead the organization, PPSWO's board announced today, replacing retiring President and CEO Jerry Lawson.
Deibel attended the University of Cincinnati for an undergraduate degree in social work before receiving a master's of social work and master's of public health at American University in St. Louis. Over the last eight years, Deibel has held positions at the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund and as president of the DC Abortion Fund, all in Washington, D.C.
"Kersha comes to us with an abundance of experience in leading, educating and advocating for our patients,” PPSWO Board Chair Sally Cuni said in a statement today. “She has an incredible passion for providing care, no matter what, and has devoted her entire career to reproductive freedom for all people.”
Deibel says she first interacted with Planned Parenthood as a client of Cincinnati's Mount Auburn clinic.
“It’s kind of incredible to think that over 13 years ago I walked through the doors of the health center on Auburn Avenue as a patient seeking access to birth control," she said in a statement today. "And, now, I sit in this seat as President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio. But that’s really what it’s all about. It’s about ensuring our patients, the people who come to us every single day, have the ability and the resources to make their dreams a reality. This has been a vision of mine and I’m thrilled to be coming back home to join this incredibly talented team.”
PPSWO provides women with health screenings, reproductive health education and services and abortion access in Cincinnati and 23 surrounding Ohio and Northern Kentucky counties.
