The Cincinnati Art Museum's hotly anticipated exhibit, Terracotta Army: Legacy of the First Emperor of China, opens April 20 and by April 21, you could be sipping a themed Terracotta Army New England Red IPA .
The ale, "fit for a warrior," was brewed in collaboration with Listermann Brewing Company and features galaxy and citra hops, hints of tropical fruit and a red tint, which mimics terracotta clay. The beer will be available in the brewery's taproom and at the museum starting April 21.
A launch party will kick off sales at Listermann at 10 a.m. that day with Terracotta Army on tap and in 16-ounce can four-packs. The first 100 guests will receive a Terracotta Army T-shirt and a voucher redeemable for a ticket to the exhibit (exhibit tickets are $16 for adults).
Listermann will be donating 10 percent of the beer's proceeds to the art museum. The beer will also be available at the museum's Terrace Cafe and during the Art After Dark event 5-9 p.m. April 27.
“Terracotta Army: Legacy of the First Emperor of China is the first time the terracotta warriors will be on view in Cincinnati — and we couldn’t be more thrilled,” says Jill Dunne, the museum's director of marketing and communications in a press release. “Hand-in-hand with Listermann Brewing Company, we’re welcoming the Cincinnati community to raise a glass with us to celebrate the arrival of these historic artworks.”
The Terracotta Army exhibit (April 20-Aug. 12) features 120 objects, including life-size terracotta warrior statutes, from China's influential Qin dynasty.
