For a limited time (through Friday, Aug. 9), visitors to the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden have the opportunity to experience a particularly wild view from the top of the historic elephant house.

The tour is part of the zoo's Behind-the-Scenes Experiences program, where guests can choose from a variety of unique events such as a private encounter with "Moe" the sloth, hands-on time with wallabies or the chance to watch elephants paint masterpieces (that you can take home).

This particular tour, More Dome to Roam, takes guests on an adventure through the elephant house to the very top of the dome, offering a birds-eye view of the zoo and surrounding neighborhoods.

The tour fee is $300, but proceeds from the tickets go toward the More Home to Roam campaign, "a bold, $150-million capital campaign with the goal to provide better homes for our animals and a better zoo for you. It will enable us to dramatically enhance animal habitats, improve the visitor experience and remain a multi-generational source of pride for Cincinnati," according to the zoo's website.

The trek to the top of the elephant house not for the faint of heart, the site explains. With stairs, steep inclines, tight spaces and heights, guests should be in good physical health before attempting to make the climb. Closed-toe shoes and long pants must be worn during the tour and the experience is reserved for guests ages 17 and older.
