Stage Door: CSC's 'Bedroom Farce'

If you're seeking something silly to divert your attention from the heat and humidity, I'll refer you to Cincinnati Shakespeare Company where today they open a production of Alan Ayckbourn's Bedroom Farce. I went to a preview on Wednesday, and it's a daffy piece of comedy — four couples, three bedrooms, one crazy night and the morning after.—- It's fueled by misunderstandings and failures of communication, not to mention quirky personalities and Ayckbourn's signature plotting which will keep you jumping from bed to bed and couple to couple, with the occasional crossed wires.

Thanks to a veteran cast — seven of eight will be familiar if you're a CSC regular, the eighth is CSCs newest company member, Brent Vimtrup, as the volatile and inconsiderate Trevor — this two-hour bit of fluff is presented with swift good humor. Not much rest in these bedrooms, but a lot of laughter. The production runs through Aug. 7.
