Paul McCartney at GABP

Paul McCartney — "The Cute One" — will perform at Great American Ballpark on Aug. 4 as a part of a string of summer dates that'll see the former Beatle playing Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field (among many other giant venues). Tickets for the Cincinnati date go on sale this Friday through tickets.com. —-

According to the press release, this is Macca's first show in Cincinnati in 18 years. His "New World Tour" hit Riverfront Stadium in May of 1993. McCartney's August show is also the first major concert event at the baseball stadium (and one of the few non-baseball events ever held there, excepting George W. Bush's free campaign commercial/rally on the eve of the 2004 election and a memorial service for fallen local soldier Matt Maupin in 2008).

Touring with McCartney on the "On the Run" tour is his amazing backing band, which some have called his best since The Beatles — Paul "Wix" Wickens (keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica, backing vocals), Rusty Anderson (guitar, backing vocals), Abe Laboriel Jr. (drums, backing vocals) and Brian Ray (guitar, bass, backing vocals).

As has been the case with Sir Paul tours, those attending can expect over three hours of Beatles, Wings and solo classics (and probably a new song or two).
