No matter your last name, everyone’s green on St. Patrick’s Day, but finding authentic (and near authentic) Irish events in German-dominated Cincinnati can sometimes be difficult. Not anymore.
The newly opened Irish Heritage Center of Greater Cincinnati will offer a variety of Gaelic-oriented events tomorrow and on the holiday itself, Wednesday. They include Irish musical groups and dancers, an Irish art exhibit, sing-alongs, films, food and an indoor Children’s Parade.—-
Events begin at 2 p.m. Saturday and noon on Wednesday, organizers said.
The center is a repository for all things Irish, including art, music, song, theater, history and dance. Future plans include exhibits on literature, language, poetry, sport and genealogy, as well as adding a library, museum and a tea room.
Also, the center has its own theater troupe. Its first performance occurred on Feb, 26 with the staging of John B. Keane's play, Moll. The three shows were sold out, and additional performances are scheduled for April 30 and May 1-2.
Volunteers helped convert the former McKinley Elementary School into a 44,000-square-foot cultural center. The facility is located at 3905 Eastern Ave. in Columbia Tusculum.

As they say at the center, Cead Mile Failte (“A hundred thousand welcomes”).
