The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company has canceled their annual winter show, Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!) — their hilarious send-up of “BHCs” or Beloved Holiday Classics (and pushed their mainstage productions to fall 2021).
But you can still catch everyone's favorite Drunk Santa, streamed straight to your TV or via DVD.
Yes, The Drunk Santa X-Mas Spectacular features Miranda McGee in her classic role from Every Christmas Story as...Drunk Santa.
The creative team of McGee, Justin McCombs, Geoffrey Warren Barnes II and Maggie Lou Rader have reassembled for this pre-recorded video offering — definitely not suitable for true Santa believers.
Cincy Shakes says, "Get your jolly on from the comfort of your own living room, as Santa and the gang deliver a sleighful of lovingly irreverent holiday hijinks right down your chimney and onto your screen of choice. Jam-packed with special guests, musical numbers, and more."
From Dec. 4- Jan. 31, you can access The Drunk Santa X-Mas Spectacular online for $20 and watch from home via cincyshakes.cogplayer.com/event/drunk-santa.
You can also purchase a "commemorative DVD" for $50 and pick it up at the Cincy Shakes theater from Dec. 4-18 (or have it mailed to you). Purchase the DVD at cincyshakes.com/retail.
Or you can enjoy these holiday antics on the big screen at the Esquire and Mariemont theaters. Social distancing, masks and enhanced cleaning will take place at each showing and tickets are $20 per person — with proceeds going to help both Cincy Shakes and the indie movie houses.
