For about one agonizing week there wasn’t a drop of pho broth to be sipped at Findlay Market while Pho Lang Thang closed shop to relocate to their new digs on 1828 Race St. Luckily, the savory smell of their exquisite soup is once again filling the air, enticing diners to enter the revamped restaurant.
While the original location was efficiently laid out to maximize dining spot, the new spot — just a little north of the market — has seemed to triple the seating capacity. There’s a full bar that’ll be fully stocked once their liquor license comes through; the drafts are simply waiting for permission to pour. For the time being, Coco Rico is the best drink in the house: sweet Puerto Rican coconut soda that’s adored around the globe.
Diners can enjoy their pho, bánh mì and shrimp salad rolls at the bar or at one of the many tables. TVs at the bar means this soup and sandwich shop can quickly turn into a lively sports bar when a big game is on.
One of Pho Lang Thang’s best dishes is their pho bò nạm, or brisket pho: the thinly sliced meat is tender and flavorful, enhancing the body of the already phenomenal broth. For sandwiches, the fried tofu bánh mì is excellent thanks to the crunchy French baguette, crisp cucumber and aromatic cilantro.
Pho Lang Thang caters if you want to make a big group extremely happy. They’re a great takeout spot for a quick lunch and, with the new seating layout, perfect for larger groups.
