The Taft Museum of Art launches its annual holiday display — Antique Christmas — on Nov. 8.

The historic home-museum will be bedecked with a whimsical collection of vintage ornaments, including Disney and German fairy tale pieces; trees decorated with pre-World War II miniature glass ornaments from Germany, Poland and Japan; Art Deco gift boxes; various iterations of Santa Claus figurines; a dining room set with china, crystal and silver; and an exterior swept with evergreen garlands and wreaths.

There will also be, according to a description, "A whimsical display of the types of transportation Santa Claus uses to make his special deliveries, as well as a feather tree hung with brightly colored Russian ornaments watched over by figures of Grandfather Frost and the Snow Maiden."

“Antique Christmas is a holiday tradition for many families,” says Deborah Emont Scott, Louise Taft Semple President and CEO of the Taft Museum of Art, in a release. “We are honored to offer visitors a unique opportunity to experience and appreciate the artistry of craftsmen and women from earlier generations in our beautiful and storied historic house.”

Antique Christmas guided tours will be offered at 1 p.m. Nov. 29 and Dec. 12 and feature commentary from Kathy and Stewart "Greg" Gregory, who contributed to this year's exhibit.

Other special events include a family-friendly kick-off party on Dec. 1, a holiday concert from the Northern Kentucky Brotherhood Singers on Dec. 8, Afternoon Tea service on select Fridays and Saturdays in December and free gourmet hot chocolate for members, available weekdays (2-4 p.m.) and weekends (3-5 p.m.), with any snack purchase.

Antique Christmas opens Nov. 8 and runs through Jan. 5, 2020. Tickets are $9.99 for adults and $8 for seniors; kids are free. The Taft Museum of Art is located at 316 Pike St., Downtown.

*A former version of this story read that the German and Disney ornaments were "acquired;" they have just been lent to the museum for the exhibition
