The Cincinnati Museum Center is opening an exciting new science-centered stage this September.
The Austin E. Knowlton Foundation Science Stage will open on Sept. 13 and will turn science textbook concepts into interactive demonstrations with fireballs and vapor clouds. The shows, which will last between 10-20 minutes, will delve into subjects like electricity, chemistry, physics and more with large-scale demonstrations.
“Sometimes we hear from learners that physics and chemistry concepts can be hard to understand,” says Whitney Owens, chief learning officer at Cincinnati Museum Center in a press release. “Science Live! shows create ‘aha’ moments of understanding and fuel the kind of curiosity that drives scientific exploration and discovery. They’re fun and engaging for all ages and levels of knowledge.”
The sessions are set up to get viewers engaged and asking questions. Guests can expect entertaining, interactive encounters like experiencing electrical currents, being shrink-wrapped through the use of air pressure or feel heat from a fireball made through chemistry.
"The Science Stage will use a variety of instruments and materials to bring science to life, including liquid nitrogen, butane torches and Van Der Graaf generators. So whether the show goes up in flames or is cooler than dry ice, you’ll feel the electricity in the air (maybe even in your hair)," the press release states.
The stage will be located within the Museum of Natural History & Science at the Cincinnati Museum Center. Admission to Science Live! shows are included with general admission tickets. Shows are on Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and on Sundays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
