Successful Broadway actor/singer Aaron Lazar is back in Cincinnati for the next couple of weeks — beginning tonight — to play the role of Larry Murphy at the Aronoff Center as part of the touring company of Dear Evan Hansen.
Lazar has a night off on Monday, May 6… well, a night off from Dear Evan Hansen at least.
A graduate of University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music (Class of 2000), Lazar will return to the old UC neighborhood on May 6 to perform his cabaret-style show, Broadway to Hollywood, at Clifton's Ludlow Garage.
Advance tickets for the 8 p.m. performance are on sale now for $20 here. Tickets are $25 at the door on the night of the show.
Lazar's Broadway to Hollywood performances, as the title suggests, include songs from his illustrious Broadway career, as well as songs from movies and other musicals. The Washington Post wrote about the show, saying, "the Handsome Lazar quickly established his reliably robust pipes, displaying a sterling tone and wide, almost effortless range."
After graduating from CCM, Lazar began a successful career that has included roles in Broadway shows like The Phantom of the Opera, The Light in the Piazza, Oklahoma!, Mamma Mia, A Little Night Music, Les Misérables and Sting's The Last Ship. His film work has included parts in J. Edgar and The Wolf of Wall Street and he has been the stand-in for Benedict Cumberbatch for the last two Avengers blockbusters. Lazar has also performed with several prestigious symphony orchestras and opera companies around the world.
It was recently announced that there will be a daily digital lottery for $25 tickets to Dear Evan Hansen's Cincinnati run (April 30-May 12). Lottery updates will be announced on the show's social media pages. Click here for entry info.
