Coming to NKU

The first Northern Kentucky location of Smashburger opens this Wednesday, October 19, at 2515 Wilson Avenue in Highland Heights. The burgers are “smashed-to-order,” which I assume means “flattened by a spatula on the grill” and is unrelated to bovine collisions of any other sort. Smashburger develops a sandwich that “highlights the distinctive flavors” of the areas where they open, and this NKU location will feature a “Bluegrass Smashburger,” with Wild Turkey Bourbon barbecue sauce, applewood-smoked bacon, melted cheddar bar cheese and fried banana pepper rings on a toasted buttered bun. This is in addition to grilled or crispy chicken sandwiches, grilled hot dogs, sides like rosemary and garlic French fries, fried pickles, Haystack Onions and Veggie Frites (flash-fried asparagus spears, carrot sticks and green beans) and things to wash it all down, including IBC root-beer floats in frosted mugs, Haagen-Dazs shakes and – yes – beer! So check it out live or get more info on the web at www.smashburger.com.
