Showcase Cinemas is offering a way to distract yourself as you wait to hear the results of the Presidential Election on Nov. 3: In all of their open U.S. locations, they will be showing free screenings of The American President.
The film is celebrating its 25th anniversary this November and stars Michael Douglas, Annette Bening, Martin Sheen, Michael J. Fox and Richard Dreyfuss. The plot revolves around President Andrew Shepherd (Douglas), a widower who pursues a relationship with environmental lobbyist, Sydney Ellen Wade (Bening), who recently moved to Washington, D.C. Amid the love story, the President is in the process of attempting to pass a crime control bill during a re-election year.
“While we know Election Day can be stressful,” said Mark Malinowski, Vice President of Global Marketing for Showcase Cinemas, “we invite Americans to head to the movie theater after casting their ballot, and enjoy a pleasant distraction with this much-loved, iconic film while waiting for the votes to be counted.”
There will be two screenings available on Nov. 3: one at 4 p.m. and the other at 7 p.m. The free tickets — plus food and beverages — can be pre-ordered/reserved online at: showcasecinemas.com or on the Showcase app.
The folks at Showcase Cinemas know that safety is a top priority right now and want to assure anyone who’d like to visit that they have instituted new COVID policies. Some of these include the installation of air-purifying systems for all U.S. theaters; reduced auditorium seating capacity; increased/enhanced auditorium cleaning between shows and in high-touch surface areas; employee and patron protective mask requirements; and social distancing markers. Locally, the film will be screening at Showcase Cinema de Lux Springdale, located at 12064 Springfield Pike, Springdale.
