Popular craft pizza restaurant chain Pies & Pints announced that it has permanently closed its Downtown location at The Banks.

"Beginning today (1/18) the doors to our 'Banks' location in Cincinnati will remain closed," a Jan. 18 Facebook post from Pints & Pies reads.

“To everyone involved in the journey at this location – thank you so much for supporting us and dining with us.”

The pizzeria, located at 56 W. Freedom Way, was greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and suffered a significant loss of business, according to a recent article by Fox 19.

“Our Banks location opened over four years ago and depended heavily on the proximity to PBS, GAB, arenas, and large offices," Pies & Pints’ president and chief executive officer Rob Lindeman told Fox 19. "Pies & Pints was well received and we had our best year in 2019, increasing sales by almost 10%. We were looking forward to another great year in 2020 with positive sales until COVID hit."

Pies & Pints first opened in 2003 in Fayetteville, West Virginia. Now, 18 years later, the business has expanded to 14 locations across the Midwest and the South. Ohio is home to the most franchises, with five locations throughout the state.

With an expansive menu of more than 20 pies to choose from — including its delightfully unique grape and gorgonzola specialty pie — sandwiches, salads, and even gluten-free pork and pepper nachos, it’s not surprising that the chain has spread like wildfire.

According to the Facebook post, the restaurant chain's Greater Cincinnati locations in Kenwood and Liberty Town Center will remain open.
